Here you will see photos of some of the animals we will see and an itinerary of this 2 week adventure. Sulawesi has never been connected to any great land area. This isolated position lead to the development of a unique fauna. 98% of the Sulawesian mammals are endemic while 89 of the 247 bird species are not found anywhere else.

You can see the many miles of coastline and some of the best diving spots in the world. The  date to leave Los Angeles is September, 01 and we will arrive in Jakarta, Indonesia September,03. You can also leave from any city you want and can arrange your own airfare to Indonesia. Just subtract . You can also arrive a few days earlier or later in Jakarta. The planned departure date date from Jakarta is September15 or stay longer with me for a slight additional cost.

From Jakarta, we will fly to Sulawesi. We will spend about 3 days in a national park looking at different flora and fauna on our way to Togian Island. We will have 3 days in Jakarta so it is possible to shop and sightsee if you are not too tired.

After the park we will take a boat to Togian Island and find the Togian Island Water Monitor.

We will have about 4 days on the different Togian Islands. We will trek day and night (up to you how much), you will have free time and you will be able to dive in what some people consider to be the best place in the world to dive.

The tour is not on a very tight schedule so we will have plenty of time to visit other areas on the way to our fixed destinations if you have any ideas. We will be moving from place to place often and on boats and vans so it is necessary to only bring 1 carry on. It will not be a problem to bring a second carry on to bring back souvenirs. We have to travel lite. You can buy most things in Indonesia and clothes can be laundered often.

Many of the animals we will see are only found on Sulawesi. Many are also nocturnal so you will need to bring lights. Also needed are suntan lotion, hiking boots, light long pants and shirts, mosquito repellent, small tent with mesh netting, hat, camera, water bottle that is easily carried, motion sickness pills, anti diarreha pills

The price of sixteen hundred dollars per person based on double occupancy includes round trip air from LAX to Jakarta, Indonesia, all Indonesia air, ground and water transportation, all hotels, all breakfasts, some lunch and dinner, park permits, guides and airport transfers. Add two hundred dollars for singles. We will always have a native guide with us who works for my company to translate, answer any questions about Indonesia, facilitate our trip and to help you bargain for your souviners.  For those who want to come earlier or stay longer, this can be arranged and we can even visit some reptile exporters and see other sites in Indonesia.
